The Trade Register of Netherlands is managed by the Chamber of Commerce, and its goal is to ensure a good relation between entrepreneur and law, and also to provide quality information on other business enterprises. The Dutch Trade Register records the activities of a company, being a useful source of information that can be used for market research, academic research etc.

The Company Registrar in Netherlands provides information on the size of a company, the number of employees for at least 15 hours a week. The institution's database contains information about addresses of all registered Dutch legal entities, even associations, foundations, sole proprietorships etc. The data contained includes telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and private address of owners, managers, directors, information about branches, name of a receiver in case of insolvency and other companies with the same address. The Trade Registry of Netherlands forms the basis for a summary of figures which act as a guide to the business economic development. Anyone can search through the register by business name, registration number or business address.

Entrepreneurs are able to search through the register's database and request and receive business extracts. In order to obtain this information it is necessary that a person apply for a code and password. Payment can be done online, or in person at the register's office.

Registering a company within the Trade Register of Netherlands is done by submitting an application to the Chamber of Commerce situated in the area of the entrepreneur's business location. The Dutch company can be registered by the owner of the company, the managing partners, or an authorized representative.

The Register must be notified if any data of a registered company changes. In order to do that the entrepreneur must submit an application via e-mail, or in person at the Trade Register's office. The information submitted is analyzed and approved in a few days, or additional information is requested.
