The institution in charge with company registration in Italy is the Register of Enterprises of Italy, regulated by the Chamber of Commerce. The process is completed in one week and in case of acceptance the company is issued a registration certificate meaning it can commence its business activities.
Searching information and ordering extracts on companies may be done with a simple inquiry at InfoCamere or by personal visit at one of the Chambers of Commerce's offices throughout Italy. A user can insert the company name, date of incorporation or any other significant information as criteria and simplify the search. Public inquiries are answered in a short period of time by Chamber's clerks.
The Register of Enterprises must be notified in case of major changes. This formality is completed via e-mail and a fee applies, depending on the number of changes. The institution must be notified if the directors are replacement, the address is changed or the company evolves into a bigger business organization type.
The purpose of the Register of Enterprises is to deal with general interests, promoting local and national development, transparency in business activities. It also ensures that every company is founded and functions legally, ensuring links between the business system and public authorities.
